Finance system for solo founders and small businesses

Know exactly where
your business stands.

An outside accountant can handle filings. You should not have to wait two or three days to learn what came in, what is due, or where a contract stands—then spend more time questioning the report. MiniTax connects day-to-day business activity, cash movement, and financial results.

MiniTax does not turn the owner into an accountant. It makes every cash movement traceable to a contract, business event, and journal entry, so the state of the business is always visible.

Accountants still get proper ledgers and statements. Owners get cash, receivables, payables, contract progress, and next actions in language they use every day.

01 · Start with the business event

A signed contract, a payment, and recognized revenue
are not the same event.

Signing a contract does not mean cash has arrived, and receiving cash does not mean all of it is revenue for the current period. MiniTax records contract direction, milestones, and actual events separately, so receivables, advances, revenue, and bank activity remain distinct.

Contract register

Track what is due, what has been paid, and how much has been recognized at every milestone.

Set whether a contract is for revenue or expenditure, then define its amount, term, and payment milestones. As work progresses, record collections or payments and recognize revenue or expense with the related entries and attachments.

Transactions, business records, and entries

When money reaches the bank, identify it now—not at month end.

Link each transaction to a contract, invoice, or other business event, then create a draft journal entry. If it cannot be identified, leave it open instead of forcing it into the wrong account just to balance the books.

02 · Cash today does not guarantee cash at month end

Put contract milestones and operating expenses
on one cash timeline.

Today’s balance is only a snapshot. Until payroll, contributions, vendor payments, and customer receipts are placed on future dates, the owner cannot tell what is safe to spend next.

Cash plan

See when cash will arrive and leave before it happens.

Contract milestones feed the forecast automatically; payroll, taxes, and other spending can be added as needed. When the real transaction occurs, it links back to the plan so forecasts and actuals do not become separate records.

03 · Reports come from reconciled books

Resolve the exceptions, close the period,
then review the result.

Period close is not a “generate report” button. Draft entries, unbalanced journals, contract milestones without entries, and unlinked invoices all affect the result. MiniTax surfaces those exceptions before posting closing entries and locking the period.

Close and reports

Read the number—and trace exactly where it came from.

After close checks pass, MiniTax posts the profit-and-loss closing entries and updates the balance sheet, income statement, and trial balance. Owners see the outcome; accountants keep the supporting journals and ledgers.
