Privacy Policy

This policy explains how WitMe 2.0 handles data while providing goals, actions, evidence, optional witnessing, growth reports, accounts, and subscriptions.

Updated: August 19, 2026

1. Data we process

To provide the growth-goal service, we process account identifiers, display names, goals, stages, actions, check-ins, witness results, rewards or consequences, growth reports, and text, photos, audio, values, or workout evidence you choose to submit. A phone number or email address is used to send one-time codes for registration or password recovery.

2. How data is used

  • Sync the goal lifecycle and create action instances, results, and growth records.
  • Support the witnessing and collaboration you explicitly choose.
  • Send action reminders, witness notifications, and service messages you allow.
  • Verify App Store entitlements, restore purchases, and process subscription changes.
  • Protect sync, offline recovery, duplicate submission controls, and service security.

3. Evidence and device permissions

Camera, photo library, and microphone access is used only when you actively capture, select, or record evidence. Photos are compressed and common metadata is removed before upload.

With your permission, WitMe may read HealthKit data related to a workout you select, including its type, time, duration, and available route points. It may also add a workout you schedule in WitMe to Apple Fitness. WitMe does not alter existing health records or upload unrelated data when no evidence is selected.

4. Storage and third-party services

An anonymous Appwrite account is created on first use; upgrading to a registered account keeps the same user ID. Cloud data is authoritative, while the device stores offline cache and pending sync state. Evidence files use private storage with access controls.

The service may use Apple for the App Store, HealthKit, and notifications; RevenueCat for subscription entitlements; Appwrite for accounts, data, files, and cloud functions; and SMS or email providers for one-time codes.

Witnesses only see content you explicitly share for the relevant goal. Witnessing does not mean the platform certifies the underlying facts.

5. Deactivation and retention

You can deactivate your account in Settings. The current product uses soft deletion: the profile is marked deactivated and signed out, but goals, actions, witnessing, and other server business records are not physically erased. Necessary records may also be retained for legal obligations, disputes, and service security.

6. Your choices

  • Disable camera, photos, microphone, HealthKit, or notifications in system settings.
  • Choose whether to invite a witness and what goal content to share.
  • Use an anonymous guest account or register with a phone number or email, depending on region.
  • Manage subscriptions, restore purchases, or request refunds through Apple.

7. Minors, security, and updates

Minors should use networked, health, sharing, or purchase features with a guardian's knowledge and consent. We use reasonable access controls, transport protections, and server-side validation, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We will update this page when data practices change materially.
